Lying Down Self-Reiki Practice
This self-reiki practice is designed to be a 15-20 minute practice that you can easily integrate into your schedule each night before bed and/or each morning when you wake up.
This practice is designed to be performed lying down and does not include all of the self-reiki hand positions; however, those are listed at the bottom of the page for those interested in an extended self-reiki practice.
Getting Started: Centering and Grounding With the Breath
As you start your practice, I recommend you spend a couple of minutes connecting with your breath.
Feeling your breath go in your nose, down your chest, and into your belly. Pay particular attention to the air filling up your stomach.
Then, watch as you start your exhale by releasing from the belly, then the chest, and then out your nose.
Spend some time gently watching your breath, making sure your exhales are longer than your inhales.
Set an Intention For Your Practice
Take a second to create an intention for your self-reiki practice. Your intention can be anything you want, including simply connecting with reiki energy. Feel what is needed in your heart and connect with that intention and your heart as you begin the practice.
Connect With Reiki
Now, it’s to connect with the reiki energy. If you have been Reiki Level 1 Attuned, then you can use this time to draw the reiki symbol from your attunement onto the palms of your hands.
If you are not reiki attuned, feel free to continue with the hand positions below; however, you will skip the step of drawing symbols on your palms.
Begin at Heart Center
As you lie down, begin the practice by placing your hands in a prayer position at your heart. Feel the gratitude for the ability to practice self-healing with reiki as well as appreciation to yourself for taking the time out of your day.
Self-Reiki Lying Down Hand Positions
Then, slowly go through the reiki hand positions below as you are lying down. Connect with your body, intend to connect with each chakra (energy center in your body), and stay with your breath.
Note: There are many reiki hand positions, these are just the ones I find the easiest to engage with while lying down. Plus, they cover all of the chakras!
You will find a complete list of the self-reiki hand positions below. The full self-reiki sequence is best performed sitting up and covers all of the chakras both in the front and the back of your body.
